What if I am a lightworker? (Mooni)

Welcome, people on the internet.

Here is a snippet of myself. I am an art student with quite a pretty face (if I do say so myself), a little introverted, somewhat shy. Expresses better in music, reading and daydreaming. Unfortunately, not the best with words, but I’ll try my best, so hang in there with me.

The topic of the day I’m coerced to write about is “What if I am a lightworker?”

Well, as someone who is of the creative field (art to be precise), visual attraction and marketing, I believe, are the two main factors that sell products. Oftentimes, people are more easily influenced by what they see and hear; movies, idols, influential figures, money, music, opinions on the internet or peers, etc. From my experience, not listening to the latest hits can mean you're uncool.

Questions I repeatedly encountered; You don't know the latest or up and coming tv series playing on Netflix? How is that possible? What do you do at home? These questions I hear countless of times amongst my peers throughout my 27 years of living. I find that humans are, fortunately and unfortunately, birds that flock together.

From my rather subtle observation, movies/tv series and music are one of the easiest ways to influence the public. To show you what I mean, have you ever hummed to a song that's not on your song list? Singing to a song perfectly even when you’ve never attempted to read or memorise the lyrics but for the strangest reason, you are able to sing it perfectly most of the time. Yes, this is most probably, the reason why.

A song, especially one that’s the current hit, can sometimes come up a few times in a day. The radio station oftentimes, love playing the same track over and over again; even after changing to a different station, it’s still the same song (well..that tends to happen to me).

On top of that, even when you're minding your own business, strolling in the mall, or getting your haircut, even buying groceries in the grocery store, they can all be playing the same song! And with that, the repetition, the industry has successfully ingrained those songs into my subconscious mind and not through my own will. And I believe, I am not the only one experiencing this. It goes to show how powerful and easy it is to manipulate people’s mind with this approach.

Most certainly, I don’t mean to say it’s unethical or evil when they do that. But, sometimes, there are songs that are not exactly the most “decent”, with the drugs, sex and foul language. I mean, imagine a 5-year-old singing to a drug song. I am not going to lie but that rubs me the wrong way in every possible angle. Which, in turn, makes me question why songs especially the ones nowadays are written with such, “interesting” topics and languages. Do pay no heed to this as it is just my personal take on this topic and I am not pointing fingers at anyone who enjoys songs of these categories. It is purely because I can be a little bit, just a little bit, sensitive to things like this.

Imagine this situation, but with movies. Ever wondered why you can feel a million different feelings when watching a movie? Besides good actors being able to convey the right emotions, the script, the plot, the story, is important. It plays a big role in a movie. It is, most of the time, what engages the audience. For example, coming out of the theatre depressed or upset because the movie was about someone dying or coming out happy because it was a comical movie.

Therefore, think of it this way. What if the movie was about the end of the world? What emotions would people have? For some, like me when I was younger, I felt helpless. Like, there was nothing that can be done for this world and we are doomed. So, if I was thinking of such, what if there are thousands or millions of us out there with similar thoughts? This will probably be an interesting topic to discuss at another time.

Hence, getting back to the question, “What if I am a lightworker?” After much thought, I’m not especially convinced but I’m leaning towards it. Is it, maybe, the reason why I tend to have insightful and a clear objective view of the world is because that is one of the traits of a lightworker? What am I going to do if I am? Let’s say, I’m still exploring the lightworker frontier for now.
